We recommend manufacturing windows from laminated and hard-coated Aikon® polycarbonate to improve their durability and performance. Laminated plastic sheet is a structure where polycarbonate or acrylic sheets alternate with TPU films. The layered structure improves the plastic sheet’s impact strength without compromising the transparency of the material. Plastic laminating is an excellent method to produce safe and durable windows to various work machines. Optical quality of laminated windows is ensured by quality control tests. In the laminating process smart technologies such as shading films, heating, or info displays can integrated into the sheets.
Polycarbonate windows or acrylic sunroofs can be laminated with shading films, which allow the window shade to be ajusted with the touch of a button. Shading films allow you to adjust the direct light that passes through the machine windows and creates comfort as well as an optimal shading choice for exterior windows. They are an excellent solution for machines operating in direct sunlight or hot conditions.
Laminating enables integrating transparent displays into the windows. They create more space in the cabin as they reduce the need for instrument clusters. Transparent displays can be laminated into windshields, side windows, sunroofs, and doors. They can show dynamic information of a machine and help the operator of a machine focusing on the work. The technology enables manufacturers to build safer machines that improve ergonomics, situation awareness and user experience of operators.
Laminating method can be used to produce heated polycarbonate windows with excellent transparency. In the method, an electrically conductive film is laminated between two PC sheets, creating a heated surface when an electric charge is applied to it. This allows the visibility of the cab to be improved by keeping the windows transparent in inaccessible locations.
